Tindara Koslowski ensures that the who's who of the Franconian economy can present themselves in a great way at Nuremberg Airport.

However, the well-known world sporting goods companies in the region are missing.

Nuremberg – "The who's who of the Franconian economy actually presents itself here at the airport," says Tindara Koslowski happily and, as if to prove it, points to the brand presence of Schaeffler from Herzogenaurach, which is well worth seeing.

The Sicilian, who was born in Sicily and has been taking care of the colorful posters and the glowing advertising next to the runway for over 15 years, is certain that the special “wanderlust atmosphere” between the runway and the passenger stairs is the decisive advertising factor at Nuremberg Airport.

Here large pictures advertise sunny dream beaches, there huge advertising banners for luxury fragrances lure.

"For me, exciting advertising makes the airport really attractive," says Koslowski

Without luggage in hand and ticket in pocket: Tindara Koslowski walks through Nuremberg Airport with completely different eyes.

"I always try to put myself in the shoes of the passengers," says Koslowski, pointing to the ceiling in the departure hall.

“All passengers simply have to look here.

That's why we positioned the first advertising space right here," says the trained advertising manager and points to the display board with the dream destinations above the check-in counters.

Nuremberg Airport already earns seven-digit millions with advertising

Incidentally, in the future even more moving advertising will also be possible outdoors.

And probably not without reason.

The importance of advertising revenue at Nuremberg Airport has been growing for years.

Because the airlines want to save more and more, the airports should, in return, place more and more value on the advertising business, for example.

According to the latest annual reports, around forty percent in Nuremberg is already accounted for by the growing area of "non-aviation", which, in addition to the management of multi-storey car parks, also includes, for example, the business field with colorful advertising between the departure and arrival halls.

"We now earn a seven-figure amount with advertising at the airport," emphasizes Jürgen Kohstall, Head of Marketing at Nuremberg Airport, the growing importance.

In the future, the company wants to expand the business field even further.

Big cat offensive: When Puma secured almost all advertising space in one fell swoop

Between the seductive advertising posters for costume jewelery by Thomas Sabo from Lauf an der Pegnitz in Franconia or the personable and serious appearance of the Nuremberg IT company Datev, passengers have to find the advertisements for the two world sporting goods companies, Adidas and Puma, from Herzogenaurach, mostly in vain between luggage belts and Look for security check.

That probably has something to do with the fact that Big Cat, Stripes & Co. from the Franconian sports city see themselves more as "global players", says Tindara with a shrug.

Puma once made a big exception and spontaneously wanted to rent all the advertising space on the baggage carousel for three days in one fell swoop.

"I called all the customers immediately and fortunately they all joined in," Koslowski recalls of the short but intense big cat advertising offensive at the Franconian gate to the world.

The advertising coup would probably not have worked without the help of long-standing customers.

At Nuremberg Airport: "Club Gate" was created in cooperation with 1. FC Nuremberg

In general, the many advertising partners have now almost become friends.

"Even during the pandemic, when there was really little going on here at times, no long-standing customer terminated the cooperation.

I was really impressed by this loyalty.

Now, with a strong summer flight schedule and high passenger frequency, we can give a lot back,” says the friendly advertising expert at Dürer Airport.

A new "club gate" was recently created in cooperation with 1. FC Nürnberg.

Incidentally, Koslowski only had to shake his head once in his entire career when asked for an advertisement.

At that time, a sex shop wanted to use the hallowed halls for a successful performance.

"The advertising has to suit us," says Tindara Koslowski and disappears between the many passengers and the colorful advertising in the travel-loving turmoil at Nuremberg's Dürer Airport.
