The number of unemployed in the district of Miesbach fell further in May.

The good news has a downside: companies are still desperately looking for employees, but can hardly find any.

District - The number of unemployed in the district of Miesbach fell further in May and is at the level of 2019, i.e. before the corona pandemic and delivery bottlenecks.

With around 1100 unemployed, 100 fewer people were looking for employment than in the previous month and around 600 fewer than in the previous year.

According to the Rosenheim employment agency, the number of job seekers fell in all groups, including those under 25 and over 50, foreigners, the severely disabled and the long-term unemployed.

The unemployment rate in the district is 1.9 percent (May 2021: 3 percent).

Fewer unemployed in the district of Miesbach

The "positive development of the regional labor market" continued in May, according to Michael Vontra, deputy head of the Rosenheim Employment Agency.

Companies held on to their staff, there were no larger releases and almost all employees who were released over the winter months returned to their jobs.

"This is certainly due to the positive order situation, the good weather conditions and the upcoming Whitsun holidays."

The unemployment rate for the entire area of responsibility of the agency - the districts of Miesbach, Rosenheim and Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen as well as the city of Rosenheim - was 2.2 percent, as in April.

The absolute number of unemployed fell to 6770, compared to the previous month a minus of 110 unemployed and compared to the previous year a minus of around 2500.

Staff shortage still extreme: all-time high of vacancies exceeded again

The figures from the employment agency also show that companies in the region are still desperately looking for staff.

After the employment agency reported an all-time high of vacancies since records began in 1998 in April, the number rose again in May.

With almost 6,000 vacancies, the value is again around 100 positions higher than in April and more than three times higher than in May 2021.

The region's training market offers young people more opportunities: there are almost 2,000 vacancies for apprenticeships and 1,000 people looking for training.

So there are two offers for every applicant.

There are particularly many open training positions in the professional groups of sales, office, warehouse, metal, mechanical engineering and industrial engineering as well as in bakers, butchers and other food manufacturers and in food preparation
