The dangers of drugs and their impact on man and society, and the importance of raising awareness of this are the most prominent axes of the awareness-raising event that was established today by the Arbin City Council in Damascus countryside in the city’s cultural center.
In a lecture during the event, Captain Bashar Zayoud from the Anti-Narcotics Branch in Damascus Countryside referred to the efforts of the Ministry of Interior, in cooperation with various other parties, in working to suppress the drug phenomenon and limit its spread through awareness-raising activities for different age groups, with a focus on the youth category.
Zayoud spoke about the dangers of addiction and the importance of raising awareness regarding the misuse of some drugs in addition to improper socialization, including family disintegration, poverty, ignorance and bad companions that lead to an increase in the number of drug users, referring to the Syrian laws and legislation that tightened the penalty for drug trafficking and smuggling. The penalties also included drug possession and use .
Zayoud explained that addiction requires a treatment protocol in hospitals and specialized clinics, and that the state has provided free treatment for drug users, in addition to psychological and social rehabilitation, noting that due to the terrorist war on Syria and the presence of terrorist organizations in a number of regions and the sabotage ideas it carried
It targeted the young generation. It was very necessary to strengthen awareness programs in these areas about the dangers of drugs and other negative, destructive phenomena that target the Syrian society as part of the war on it.
In turn, Cultural Director Irbeen Iman Al-Hajj emphasized the role of the cultural centers in terms of presenting scientific, community, health and artistic activities, especially plastic art exhibitions that focus on the dangers of drugs and present them to visitors of the center from different age groups in more than one way to address them directly or through various awareness messages.
