They have been preparing for their Abitur for years – now the students have been able to harvest the fruits of their labor.

The high school graduates recently received their grades.

District – The approximately 500 students who took their first Abitur examination in the Fünfseenland on April 27 were amazed when they received their documents in the morning.

In the compulsory subject German, the material for one of the tasks from which the examinees could choose included excerpts from an Asterix dialect volume.

The task: Material-based writing of an informative text on the subject of "dialect use in Bavaria".

Even if the Asterix volume was written in Main Franconian - title: "Dour de Frangn" - some candidates accepted this challenge.

For Elisabeth Mayr, headmistress at the Christoph-Probst-Gymnasium (CPG) in Gilching, the Asterix task is an example of how this year's exams were "exciting and fair".

The grade point average at her school was better than in many other years.

Of the 136 high school graduates, 127 passed and nine have to take the oral re-examination.

The best grade of 1.0 was given six times.

A total of 56 high school graduates passed with a one before the decimal point.

CPG: Abitur grades better than last year

While the average of the Abitur grades at the CPG was 2.35 in the pre-Corona years, it was clearly better this year at 1.99, not only because of the exam tasks.

"The so-called cheaper regulation is also noticeable here," says Mayr.

In order to compensate for the difficulties caused by the pandemic, the Ministry of Education issued new rules for the 2022 high school graduation year, which rules are included in the eleventh grade.

Andreas Thalmaier also believes that these regulations have helped some students.

However, the headmaster of the Tutzing high school cannot report above-average results.

"This year we had a slightly higher proportion of students who still have to take the oral part," he says.

69 high school graduates took the exams in Tutzing.

One student got the best grade, 19 got a one before the decimal point.

The students also reported that the exams were fair.

"After the math exam last year, the mood was completely different." Thalmaier doesn't like to talk about the overall average.

"We don't want any competition discussion," he says.

Otto-von-Taube-Gymnasium in Gauting: More than half with a one before the comma

Alfred Lippl, headmaster of the Ammersee-Gymnasium in Dießen, does not want to talk about overall averages, although he is "very satisfied" with this year's Abitur results.

88 young people started, two still have to catch up on exams due to illness, one has to take the oral exam.

The other 85 can be happy, one about the grade 1.0.

"They only missed 15 out of a total of 900 possible points," reports Lippl.

"I've never experienced that before." 31 students passed with a one before the decimal point.

Elmar Beyersdörfer, headmaster of the high school Landschulheim Kempfenhausen, cannot complain either.

78 of his students graduated from high school this year, plus ten external students.

"As it looks now, the result is better than last year." Two twelfth graders achieved the dream grade of 1.0.

"However, ten students have to take the final exam," says Beyersdörfer.

There are just as many at Starnberg High School.

“Most of the time there is a problem with mathematics,” says director Thomas Volz.

The average of the 103 high school graduates is around 2.0, similar to last year.

One student achieved the best grade of 1.0.

At the Otto-von-Taube-Gymnasium in Gauting, 107 students have written their exams, only one has to take the additional oral exam.

Half of the high school graduates have a one before the decimal point, says headmistress Sylke Wischnevsky.

The average was 1.0 five times.

According to Wischnevsky, this year's Abitur was feasible and the students were well prepared.

"Since the pandemic, the students have been taking compulsory attendance more seriously, which is reflected in the grades," says the headmistress and hopes that her high school graduates will be half a grade point above the Bavarian average in German and math this year.

"We've been at a high level for years."
