Agatha,

The authorities have reported the closure of schools, businesses and also the prohibition of approaching the sea due to the strong waves.

Hurricane Agatha Forecast for Tuesday

The National Weather Service forecasts that Hurricane Agatha will move over southern Veracruz throughout Tuesday and "maintain conditions for torrential rains in Chiapas, eastern Oaxaca, Tabasco and southern Veracruz; intense in Campeche and very strong in Quintana Roo.

Tomorrow the weather phenomenon will bring strong winds with gusts of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour and waves of one to two meters high on the coast of Chiapas and Oaxaca.

There will be heavy punctual rains in Mexico City, State of Mexico, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Morelos, Puebla, San Luis Potosí, Tlaxcala and Yucatán;

showers (from 5 to 25 mm) in Colima, Durango, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Michoacán, Nayarit, Querétaro and Tamaulipas, and isolated rains (from 0.1 to 5 mm) in Aguascalientes, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Sinaloa and Zacatecas.

The National Weather Service forecasts that Hurricane Agatha "will gradually weaken as it passes through the state of Oaxaca" and will degrade to a tropical storm during the early hours of Tuesday.

At this time, it has been classified as a category one hurricane (out of five) on the Saffir-Simpson scale. 

The meteorological phenomenon will continue bringing extraordinary rains (greater than 250 millimeters [mm] in 24 hours) in Oaxaca;

torrential (from 150 to 250 mm) in Chiapas;

intense (from 75 to 150 mm) in areas of Guerrero, Tabasco and Veracruz, and very strong (from 50 to 75 mm) in Campeche, Puebla and Quintana Roo.

Rainfall will be accompanied by electrical discharges and strong winds.

Likewise, gusts of wind of 140 to 160 kilometers per hour and waves of six to eight meters high are forecast on the coast of Oaxaca, and wind of 90 to 110 km/h and waves of four to six meters high on the coasts of Chiapas and Guerrero.
