At present, there are about 5,000 vacancies in the police force. In 2021/22, about 8,200 people will apply for the police force. In the end, 170 trainee inspectors and 484 police officers will be recruited. In 2022/23, the target is to recruit 240 trainee inspectors and 1,350 police officers.
Since the police abolished the "seven years of residency in Hong Kong" condition in April, 15 people have been qualified, and the number of police officers, trainee inspectors and auxiliary police officers are 6, 4 and 5 respectively.
