Palestinian Authority chairman talks with US Secretary of State during the night • Abu Mazen: "Israel commits ethnic cleansing and war crimes in the shadow of American silence" • Blinken: "Committed to opening consulate in East Jerusalem" • UN decides to commemorate Palestinian journalist Abu Akala

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas received a phone call tonight (Tuesday through Wednesday) from US Secretary of State Anthony Blinkan discussing recent events on the Temple Mount, Palestinian News Agency Wafa reported.

In parallel with the conversation between Blinken and Abu Mazen, Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman met today with the head of the text, Eyal Hulata, in Washington, where they discussed the importance of the joint work of Israelis and Palestinians together to maintain calm and reduce tensions.

Sherman reinforced to the head of the National Security Agency Hulta the need to move forward to a reality in which Israelis and Palestinians alike can enjoy equal means of security, freedom and prosperity. They agreed on the need for further close coordination between the United States and Israel to promote regional security and stability.

"Israel flag allowed to be hoisted in violation of status quo": The conversation between Abu Mazen and Blinkan

"The situation is unbearable today, in the shadow of the lack of political horizon, and international protection for our Palestinian people, and the disengagement of the occupation authorities," Abu Mazen told Blinken, adding that "Jewish extremists were allowed to pray in al-Aqsa Square and raise the Israeli flag."

Abu Mazen claimed that Israel continues to make unilateral decisions, especially in Jerusalem, and that "Israeli forces storm the al-Aqsa Mosque every day, killing and deporting children and destroying homes in Palestinian neighborhoods, in addition to settler crimes and terrorism against the Palestinian people."

"Committed to a two-state solution."

Abu Mazen stressed that the Palestinian leadership was about to make decisions against Israeli escalation, in light of what it called the international community's weakness to pressure Israel to make UN decisions. "Israel is carrying out ethnic cleansing and war crimes, in the shadow of American silence."

Abu Mazen demanded that the PLO be removed from the list of terrorist organizations, as well as the opening of the consulate in East Jerusalem, as well as the return of the activities of the PLO ministries.

"The United States should not be content with mere statements and condemnations, and turning its statements into actions because the situation on the ground is unacceptable," Abu Mazen told Blinken.

Secretary of State Blinken said the Biden administration is committed to resolving the two states, and stopping expansion in the settlements, and maintaining the status quo and stopping unilateral decisions on both sides.

"We are committed to opening the consulate in Jerusalem, and a high-level delegation will arrive in the area to prepare for President Biden's visit and discuss all issues raised in the conversation with Abu Mazen."

The UN will commemorate the Palestinian journalist, linking to Abu Mazen: "We will investigate her death"

Blinken's remarks came in conjunction with the UN decision to commemorate Abu Akla.

The UN spokesman issued an official statement on the plan, which was welcomed by the Palestinian delegation to the UN.

Palestinian Representative Riyad Mansour thanked the UN Secretary-General for the gesture and noted that Sheerin Abu Akala was the voice of the Palestinian people.
