The Syrian Investment Authority has proposed two investment opportunities in the governorates of Damascus and Quneitra in the field of cultivation and manufacture of herbs and medicinal and aromatic plants “The Damascene Rose” and the extraction of oils from them, according to the Director General of the Commission, Madian Diab, who indicated that facilities were provided for the two projects, including providing the necessary infrastructure and services for them by securing the right place Through partnership with local administrations, or by providing state property for symbolic wages.

The importance of these projects, as Diab shows, comes in securing the needs of pharmaceutical and perfume factories, and the absence of similar projects in the two governorates, with the availability of all raw materials and proximity to their sources, in addition to directly employing more than 30 workers.

Diab revealed that Investment Law No. 18 of 2021 granted agricultural production projects a permanent tax exemption of 100 percent of income tax, in addition to granting a tax reduction of 75 percent of income tax for a period of 10 years for agricultural and animal manufacturing projects and facilities for sorting and packaging agricultural products, including oil cultivation and manufacturing projects aromatic;

Dr. Mahmoud al-Kuri, an agricultural expert in aromatic plants and a member of the Chamber of Agriculture in Damascus and its countryside, explained in a similar statement that the appropriate roadmap that ensures maximum benefit from the products of the Damascene rose, especially investment in the manufacture of essential oils, must start from the search for external export markets that absorb the local product in There was strong competition from many countries with experience in this field, pointing to the need to move the oil distillation process from the traditional method to modern facilities.

Al-Kuri stressed the importance of modernizing and developing the cultivation process and increasing the cultivated areas in various areas throughout the Syrian geography, which provides the continuity of the production process for a long time, pointing to the need to use modern methods in cultivating the rose of the mole by switching to intensive irrigated agriculture and conducting a continuous pruning process that contributes to increasing production and achieving High rent for farmers.

Many factors contribute to the competitiveness of Syrian products, whether in terms of quality or cost, in addition to the cheap labor and the great and distinguished experience of the Syrian farmer, according to the Korean, pointing to the availability of all incentives that enable us to be competitive in the global market due to the appropriate location and climate, which makes Syria the most distinguished and appropriate place To cultivate the Damascene Rose, especially with the diversity of its crops and products, which provides significant returns in foreign exchange.

The agricultural engineer, Omar Al-Shalt, head of the Vegetable Products Exporters Association, called for the development of an integrated work strategy that brings together all those interested in the Damascene Rose, including institutions, associations and individuals, with the aim of expanding its cultivation and strengthening this plant in its native Syria, pointing to the importance of communicating with foreign expertise and brand owners in the field of manufacturing and marketing, including It guarantees the manufacture of desirable and reliable products in the global markets in accordance with international quality and reliability standards and in a manner that reflects the originality and antiquity of the Syrian experience.

Al-Shalt stressed that increasing the production of the Damascene rose and developing its strains will bring an added value to our agricultural products, especially with the growing demand for natural products and their medical, therapeutic and cosmetic uses, as Syrian medical and aromatic products are exported to more than 30 countries in the world.
