The Israeli occupation forces escalated their violations against Palestinian journalists in an attempt to obliterate their daily crimes against the Palestinians and their sanctities.

Wafa Agency stated in a report today that it had documented 125 violations of the occupation against Palestinian journalists since the beginning of this year, causing a martyr and dozens of injuries, as part of the occupation's systematic repressive practices aimed at preventing them from playing their role in exposing its crimes and conveying them to world public opinion.

She explained that the occupation forces committed the crime of assassinating the journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh, who was deliberately targeted, even though she was wearing all equipment and labels identifying the press, in flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and a flagrant violation of freedom of media and expression and the right of peoples to obtain information.

Wafa Agency pointed out that the occupation forces continue to pursue and target journalists by shooting bullets and poison gas bombs, assaulting and arresting them as part of its policy aimed at blurring the truth and silencing mouths to cover up its daily crimes against the Palestinians, indicating that the occupation’s violations against journalists amounted to 125 violations since the beginning of this year, which was recorded in the month January 12 violations, February 26 and March 15 violations, while in April 27 violations were recorded and in May 45 violations against journalists, including the martyr Abu Aqila.

She pointed out that the number of journalists injured as a result of shooting, poison gas bombs and attacks amounted to 72, while the number of arrests reached 40 cases, while 11 cases of attacks on press institutions and equipment were recorded.

The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, the International Federation of Journalists and the International Center for Justice for the Palestinians recently filed a lawsuit with the International Criminal Court regarding the systematic targeting of Palestinian journalists by the Israeli occupation.
