On Wednesday morning, the police were notified of "
acts of violence
" committed with knives in a residence in Nice.
Upon their arrival, they found the death of a 34-year-old Russian woman, with wounds on the face, chest, abdomen and limbs, said the prosecutor, Xavier Bonhomme, in a press release.
It was the child of the victim, aged 9, who would have himself alerted the emergency services.
A 52-year-old man, already convicted of theft in 2016 and 2017, present at the scene and "
presumed author of the stab wounds
" was arrested and placed in police custody for "
aggravated voluntary homicide
".
He must also appear in October before the Nice Criminal Court for "
theft and violence without incapacity committed on the victim and the son of the latter
".
The nature of the relationship between the victim and the alleged perpetrator is, however, "
being verified
", the statement added.
