Minister of Communications, Yoaz Handel: "It means retiring employees, moving to advanced services and opening the postal market to competition" • Minister of Finance, Avigdor Lieberman: "The private sector will make a change and streamline the service for dictionaries of citizens who wish for it"

The postal company's board of directors today approved the recovery agreement formulated by the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Communications and the Government Companies Authority, after a long period in which the postal company was in a heavy deficit and reached the brink of economic collapse.

The recovery agreement includes an efficiency plan and reduction of salary expenses, transition to digital services, updating regulation, redeployment of post offices and opening hundreds of delivery centers, transferring a significant portion of the postal company's assets to the state and complete privatization of the postal company.

According to the plan, the recovery agreement is intended to save the post office from economic collapse, maintain functional continuity and streamline and improve services to the Israeli public.

The Minister of Finance, Avigdor Lieberman, stated: "I welcome the decision of the company's board of directors to go into full privatization, thus making a change and streamlining the service for dictionaries of citizens who so long for it.

I thank the Minister of Communications, the professional ranks in the Ministries of Finance and Communications and the people of the Israel Post.

We will continue to act responsibly for the free economy and growth of the economy. "

According to the Minister of Communications, Yoaz Handel: "Today we approved by the Postal Board the exit to full privatization of the company.

This means retiring employees, moving to advanced services and opening up the postal market to competition.

"After many years in which the post office was the backyard of politicians, until it reached insolvency with a deficit of one billion shekels and a deficient service - the decision was made and we set off.

"The post office should have been privatized years ago. It was an injury to the public to leave it that way. Better late than never. Israeli citizens will enjoy better service and competition."

"It should have happened years ago."

The Director General of the Ministry of Communications, Liran Avishar Ben Horin, added: "The postal company is today embarking on a new path with a commitment to efficiency, the transition to digital services and the improvement of service to the general public.

In recent decades the postal market has changed beyond recognition: the letter market has declined, the parcel market has risen and the public has reduced access to branches.

Now the postal company will make the necessary adjustment to the present era. '
