Lantau Island woman is swept away in the water, light rain and waves on Changsuo Island

A man and a woman in Sunny Bay, Lantau Island, drowned outside Luk Keng Village, and both fell into a coma.

According to the hikers who reported the case, they were sheltering from the rain at Luk Keng Pier when they saw the female victim splashing in the water on Changsuo Island off Sunny Bay.

The man who was with him fell into the water and tried to rescue him, but Xitong was swept away by the waves. The two called for help, and the hikers called the police.

It is understood that the male victim is 54 years old and the female victim is 42 years old.

Miss Zhang, a hiker, said that after hiking with a group of mountain friends, she took shelter from the rain at the pier and saw a woman playing in the water on Changsuo Island at the pier.

Not long after, the female victim asked for help from the man who was traveling with her, "calling the canal (male victim) to help him pull the canal in (going ashore)." Due to the light rain and water flow, "the two rushed out of the canal all the way, and then a few more two came out. Help people." So the hikers reported to the police one after another.

Zhang Zhi, from seeing the female victim playing in the water until the accident took several minutes, the water level was only at his knees at first, and the two were swept away by the waves.

The two were not wearing life jackets at the time of the incident and believed to be playing in the water.

At about 12 noon today (2nd), the police received a report that a man and a woman fell into the sea outside Lukang Village, Sunny Bay, Lantau Island.

Police officers arrived at the scene, and helicopters from the Police, the Marine Department and the Flight Service arrived at the scene. Rescuers launched a search by land, sea and air. Rescuers later rescued the two victims, who fell into a coma and were sent to hospital by ambulance for rescue.

The case is still under investigation.
