The CHP said the patient, a 75-year-old man, is still in Gleneagles Hospital in stable condition.

The Centre for Protection reminds that if citizens return to Hong Kong from areas affected by dengue fever, they should continue to use insect repellents within 14 days.

If you feel unwell, you should seek medical attention as soon as possible and inform the doctor about your travel details.

Stayed in Singapore for 4 months before the symptoms stabilized on the 2nd day after returning to Hong Kong

According to the CHP, the male patient stayed in Singapore from January 30 to May 25 this year, and became ill on May 27 after returning to Hong Kong. He has not yet been discharged from hospital, but his condition is stable.

Two imported cases were recorded last year

The CFS also stated that this case is the first dengue fever case recorded this year, and in 2021, two imported cases will be recorded from Indonesia and India respectively.

The CFS reminds members of the public to pay attention to anti-mosquito measures, including scrubbing ditches and open drains with alkaline cleaners at least once a week to remove possible accumulation of mosquito eggs; the water for planting flowers should be completely replaced at least once a week, and the use of mat dish, and avoid staying in the jungle.

In addition, the use of insect repellents containing DEET can effectively prevent mosquitoes, but the center points out that it should be used before entering the area where mosquitoes may be bitten, and the upper limit of the concentration of DEET for pregnant women is 30%, and the concentration of DEET for children is 10% .
