There is a verdict in the trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.

The lawyer for the guilty Heard now gives intimate insights into the moments after the announcement.

Fairfax, Virginia – It's the celebrity trial of the year, peaking so far on Wednesday evening (June 01, CEST).

The verdict was read in the court battle between Johnny Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard.

Both accused each other of defamation.

Hollywood star Depp demanded a sum of 50 million dollars from Heard as compensation, the 36-year-old herself countered with a claim of 100 million euros.

The results of the jury in Fairfax, Virginia, were announced on Wednesday.

The verdict was: Both are guilty in a way.

However, Heard was hit harder than Depp.

Depp-Heard process: Both sides found guilty – clear first statement from Heard

The "Aquaman" actress is to pay her ex-husband $ 15 million according to the jury decision.

Due to the legal situation, however, the amount will probably be reduced by quite a bit.

Ultimately, according to the verdict, Heard has to pay 8.35 million dollars (almost 8 million euros) to Depp.

There is also speculation as to whether the sum will even be reduced to less than one million due to Heard's possible bankruptcy.

Heard's attorney meanwhile announced an appeal against the verdict.

Depp, on the other hand, is expected to pay the other party around two million dollars.

It means clearly: Amber Heard is like the loser after the verdict. Accordingly, the actress was depressed after the verdict was read in the courtroom, seemed close to tears.

Shortly thereafter, she posted a first statement via Twitter.

The fact that the jury largely did not believe her despite a "mountain of evidence" breaks her heart.

She also sees the verdict as a "step backwards" for other women in a similar situation.

"I'm sad that I lost the case.

But I'm even sadder that I seem to have lost a right I thought I had as an American - to speak freely and openly." Heard's attorney, Elaine Bredehoft, finally added to the emotional moments in the courtroom deeper insights.

Depp Heard trial: Heard's lawyer reveals her first words after the verdict

Amber Heard was dealing with a "broken heart" a few hours after the verdict, Bredehoft revealed in an interview with the TV show

CBS Mornings

.

Then she reveals what her client said right after the verdict was pronounced.

"One of the first things she said as we walked from the verdict into the conference room was, 'I'm so sorry for all these women,'" the attorney told the US TV show.

Heard felt like she had let all these women down because she had more evidence than many other people had.

And yet they didn't believe her."

By the way: When the verdict was announced, Johnny Depp himself was not in the courtroom at all – but was already celebrating and attending the verdict via zoom.
