Senegalese President Macky Sall has called on African Union President Macky Sall to lift Western sanctions imposed on Russia, which affect the supply of grain and fertilizers to foreign markets.
The RIA Novosti news agency quoted the Senegalese president as saying during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi today: The sanctions imposed on Russia have exacerbated the situation because we are no longer able to access grain, especially wheat from Russia, and most importantly, fertilizers, which poses a serious threat to food security. on the continent.
He added: There are two main problems, namely the crisis in Ukraine and Western sanctions, and we must work to solve these two problems so that food products, especially grains and fertilizers, are removed from the sanctions.
The Senegalese president also pointed out that the current crisis has complicated matters, especially with regard to grains and fertilizers, and with regard to food security in the African continent as a whole.
For his part, Russian President Vladimir Putin indicated that Africa's role in the international arena is increasing, stressing that Russia will work to develop relations with the African continent.
