In a leaked internal email, Tesla boss Elon Musk announced that the electric car manufacturer would have to cut ten percent of its workforce.

In a leaked internal email obtained by the Reuters news agency, Tesla boss Elon Musk writes that the electric car manufacturer has to cut around ten percent of its workforce.

Report: Elon Musk announces global hiring freeze

The billionaire also has a “super bad feeling” about economic development.

The email, titled "Global hiring freeze," was sent to Tesla executives on Thursday, according to the report.

The group itself has not yet officially commented on the email.

Hard times seem to be coming for Tesla employees: Musk recently caused a stir because he insisted on a strict culture of presence towards his employees at Tesla and spoke out against home office options.

"Everyone at Tesla has to be in the office at least 40 hours a week," the billionaire wrote in an email.

"If someone doesn't show up, we have to assume that person has left the company."

Elon Musk: Tesla stock plummets after Twitter deal

One thing the employees aren't really to blame for is that Tesla's stock has plummeted 22 percent since Musk announced his takeover deal on Twitter.

This is highly controversial, and there are also shareholder lawsuits for alleged violations of the law.
