How to clean an iron garden furniture?
On iron furniture, start by removing the old peeling paint.
You can either sand, remove the flakes of paint that come off with a metal brush and finish with a small sander, or carry out a chemical stripping with a gelled product that adheres well vertically (Dilunett from Owatrol).
The gel must then be rinsed off with plenty of water.

These products are applied by roller or spray for better distribution.

After about fifteen minutes, brush and rinse with plenty of water.
If the wood has already been oiled, it should be de-oiled first, because oiled wood darkens under the effect of UV rays, looks dirty and even gives off a slight smell.
A grease remover does not work on this type of dirt.
The oil remover (Aquanett from Owatrol) is applied directly to the wood and attacks the oil to make it water soluble.
After rinsing, it is imperative to neutralize these products (with Net-Trol from Owatrol, for example) before applying a protection, as they are incompatible with certain finishes.
If the wood is covered with an old film-forming finish or an old paint, it must be stripped, proceeding as for iron.

Exotic woods are hard and have tight pores that prevent products from penetrating.
Only very fluid formulations can impregnate.
Once clean and dry, the support can then be treated with a saturator: Textrol for soft woods or Aquadecks for exotic and resinous woods from Owatrol, or Ultra Protect for all types of wood from Syntilor.
