Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio stressed the need to maintain an open channel of dialogue with Russia, as it is the way that can bring us peace.
"In Italy we do not launch any anti-Russian campaign, this change of reality and provocations are enough," Luigi Di Maio said in a statement, noting that Italy respects the Russian people and will always respect them.
"Italian media since the beginning of the crisis in Ukraine are doing their job very well and presenting the facts professionally," Mayo added.
In early June, the Russian Foreign Ministry published a report entitled “Violations of the Rights of Russian Journalists and Citizens in Foreign Countries,” which referred to cases of abuse and discrimination against Russian citizens in Italy and the campaign against Russian culture and its representatives. It also highlighted the biased approach taken by the Italian media when covering the crisis in Ukraine.
