Starnberg – What was the excitement: After the Federal Court of Justice (BGH) ruled in November 2017 on who was responsible for a tragic swimming accident, communities in the Fünfseenland region also played it safe.

The market town of Dießen, for example, had the bathing raft and slide removed in St. Alban, and the municipality of Herrsching had the diving board in Seewinkel dismantled.

After numerous rounds of discussion, the Bavarian Association of Cities finally recommended that the municipalities draw up a security concept.

This is now the case for Starnberg and affects the public access to the lake on the Böhler property, on the Steininger property, on the lake promenade and on the rescue pier.

Essentially, the concept developed by a Munich law firm provides for the attachment of safety instructions.

Signs, warning signs, pictograms etc.

Böhler property:

A sign "Warning of the risk of falling" is to be erected on the concrete edge that serves as a bank edging.

In addition, the passage from the bathing area on Possenhofener Straße to the boat dock should be closed.

Rescue pier:

Also south of Undosa, the lawyers recommend attaching the water depths to the pier and the warning sign "Jump forbidden".

The installation of rescue stations is recommended for bathing areas and the lake promenade

For the bathing areas and the lake promenade, it is also recommended to set up rescue stations, i.e. containers with a lifebelt and leash.

In addition, the bathing properties are to be given the uniform labeling "Lake access" throughout their external appearance, for example on signs, but also on the city's website.

The Bucentaurpark is not included in the concept because access to the lake is not possible there.
