Primary and secondary school teachers lost more than 4,000 this school year, a sharp increase of 70% over the previous school year and a new high in recent years.
Cai Ruolian, deputy director of the Education Bureau, was interviewed by a TV station and described it as a "slight change", and that "there will be no director in every school, or there is no middle management, and no principal is seen."
She said that the change in education policy may not be the main reason for teachers to leave, and she believes that it may involve changing jobs or the ideology of school sponsoring groups.
As for whether she will stay in office until the next government for five more years, Cai Ruolian pointed out that engaging in education is "after death", and she is happy in any position, saying "it cannot be counted in how many years".
Five years to stay?
Cai: It can't be calculated in years
Cai Ruolian believes that the current supply of teachers in Hong Kong is still sufficient, which has not affected the overall teaching quality and school operation. She described the loss of teachers as "replacement" and said that "basically, they are all healthy and normal."
When asked if she would stay in the next government, Cai Ruolian pointed out that for educators, the greatest happiness is to be able to contribute to the growth of students. No matter what position she is in serving Hong Kong education, she is happy.
As for whether there are any measures to be implemented in the next five years, Cai Ruolin said: "In fact, education is always better than the best. There is a long way to go to engage in education, and it cannot be counted in years."
