Despite the challenges in Israel: Mike Marwani closed a circle and became a music teacher at the school where he studied • "For me it is closing a circle. It is exciting to enter the teachers' room with teachers who taught me"

Closing the circle of the blind music teacher: 33-year-old Mike Marwani is a blind man who was born in Israel from France - straight to Amit B High School in Ashkelon.

He has now closed the circle, having become a music teacher at the institution where he studied.

Today is the "Blind Day" - a day to increase awareness and empathy with the blind and visually impaired in Israel.

For Mike, every day is such a day, but he does not let the limitation stop him.

He immigrated to Israel when he was 11. Despite the difficulty, he issued a matriculation certificate averaging more than 90.

"In Israel, I also faced difficulties with absorption, language and culture. It was not easy, but I loved the teachers and classmates. The friends helped me with what I needed, even with the study material," he says.

Mike volunteered for national service and then chose to study music.

"Over the years I played the piano and had a great love for music, which was mostly a hobby. I went to study at the 'Psalm' school," he notes.

Next he studied for a bachelor's degree in teaching at Washington Hill.

Mike fondly remembered his time at Amit B. Ashkelon School.

In a conversation with physical education teacher Moshe Hassan, who is also the alumni coordinator at the institution, he was told there was a vacancy - which led him this year to become a music teacher at the high school where he studied.

"For me it's closing a circle. It's exciting to go into the teachers' room with teachers who taught me," he said.

Gideon Schindler, the high school principal, said that "Mike's confrontation inspires us all."
