In the midst of the Ukraine war, there is a lot of discussion about the gas supply from Russia.
The head of the Federal Network Agency fears further price increases.
Berlin – The Ukraine conflict continues to cause tensions in the oil and gas supply.
After Russia stopped deliveries to Denmark and Shell gas stations, the President of the Federal Network Agency, Klaus Müller, expects further gas price increases.
"The gas that is freely traded in Europe is likely to gradually decrease," said Müller in an interview with the "Tagesspiegel".
"If the screw is tightened further, even if it's only small steps, gas will become even more expensive," warned the head of the agency.
Müller does not currently fear that Russia will also turn off the gas supply to Germany.
"The gas inflows are currently stable." Serious predictions are impossible, however, the Federal Network Agency can only drive on sight.
"I dare not make any predictions beyond the next 24 hours."
Gas prices could continue to rise - the head of the Federal Network Agency warns
Müller had already drawn attention to himself in the past with controversial statements about German energy supply during the Ukraine war.
The head of the Federal Network Agency called for the Germans to heat less in order to save gas.
This demand had angered many people, and Facebook users also vented their anger at Müller's proposal and called on politicians to set a good example.
