Tai Po District Councillor Yao Junhao was sentenced to three months in prison for the illegal assembly case last year. He missed the district councillor’s oath. The Home Affairs Bureau arranged for him to take the oath.
Yao Junhao said on Facebook in the evening (6th) that he had received a letter from the Home Affairs Department, confirming that he was disqualified as a member of parliament.
Yao Junhao said that he was disqualified from being a member of parliament for "earning early". "It seems that I used to hold Christmas activities. I can do it every day, and I can make the neighbors happy before I have nothing to do. I think it's really good, but what? For a few days, I felt a little reluctant.”
Yao Junhao did not complete the district councillor's oath due to serving his sentence last year. He took the oath at the Government Headquarters on the 1st of this month.
This time Yao Junhao was DQ was the first time that Chen Jizhi had been disqualified as a district councillor since he took up the post of acting director in January this year.
The Civil Affairs Bureau doubted the oath. Tai Po District Councillor Yao Junhao stated that he would not reply to the letter. He was released from prison for 7 months.
