The Observatory issued a special weather alert at about 11:00 this morning (6th), stating that the thunderstorm area near the Pearl River Estuary is gradually approaching and is expected to affect Hong Kong in the next hour or two.

The Observatory issued another special weather warning at 12:17 noon, pointing out that extensive areas in Hong Kong may be affected by heavy rain in the short term, and the public should be vigilant.

The Observatory also predicts that a trough of low pressure will linger along the coast of Guangdong in the middle to late part of this week, and it is expected that three days of heavy showers and squally thunderstorms will start tomorrow (7th).

As the high-altitude anticyclone in the northwestern Pacific Ocean spreads westward early next week, the showers along the coast of Guangdong have decreased, and the sun is expected to return to the sun for a short time on Sunday (12th).

It is forecast to be mostly cloudy with showers and a few thunderstorms today; there will be sunshine and heat briefly in the afternoon, with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds.

According to the Observatory's two-hour rainfall forecast, the thunderstorm area is expected to hit around 1 p.m., and the accumulated rainfall in half an hour may exceed 10 mm, while the western New Territories such as Tin Shui Wai are expected to experience the heaviest rain.

In addition, the Macao Meteorological Bureau issued a yellow rainstorm warning signal at 11:20 in the morning. It is expected that the rain will continue, and there will be flooding in low-lying areas, and reminds the public to pay attention to travel safety.

In terms of the nine-day weather forecast, the Observatory expects heavy clouds, heavy showers and squally thunderstorms for three consecutive days from tomorrow to Thursday (9th).
