The victims of the most recent mass shootings in the United States were in places that seemed safe.
But few spaces are now safe in the country.
At least 12 people were killed and more than 60 were injured in the 10 mass shootings that took place this weekend in the US.

Some were at proms, a nightclub, a popular entertainment district, or a shopping mall.
This bloodshed comes as the country is still mourning the lives that have been lost in a wave of recent tragedies, including a massacre at an elementary school in Texas, a deadly attack at a medical center in Oklahoma, a racist massacre at a supermarket in New York and an attack on a Taiwanese church service in California.

The United States has had at least 246 mass shootings in 2022 — far more than the number of days that have passed in the year, according to the Gun Violence Archive.

In 2020, 161 mass shootings were reported as of June 5.
In 2019, that number was 154. The nonprofit and CNN define a mass shooting as an incident in which at least four people are shot, not counting the shooter.

, five people were injured after an attacker fired on a crowd gathered at a high school graduation party, Police Chief David Burton said.
All five injured are teenagers, including two who were in critical condition, he said.

one person was killed and at least seven others were injured at a graduation party.

, at least two people were killed and 11 others were wounded by gunshots in a busy entertainment district.
A third person who died may have been one of the attackers, police said.
