The Geretsrieder-Wolfratshauser Tafel is at the limit and urgently asks for support.
The number of people in need has increased significantly.
Geretsried - "If we don't get any donations - whether money or food - we don't know how to proceed": Heidemarie Ritter, Chairwoman of the Geretsrieder-Wolfratshauser Tafel, and her team are faced with an almost impossible task.
"We are definitely at the limit."
Number of customers increased from 200 to 450
Because of the refugees from the Ukraine and the local workers from Afghanistan, the number of those who depend on the Tafel has risen again.
"While there used to be 200 people who came to us as customers, it's now between 350 and 450. That means an increase of around 120 percent," says Ritter.
What also has a noticeable impact is the general rise in food and energy prices.
"Monthly income is getting tight," emphasizes the board chairman.
However, the amount of food donated has remained about the same.
“We try to buy in long-life groceries,” says Ritter.
A task that, strictly speaking, does not correspond to the guidelines of the board.
“We are there to save food to help people.
But this amount is no longer enough.” Nonetheless, Ritter tries to find non-perishable staple foods and dashes “from pillar to post” to do so.
Rice, for example, is often no longer available in large quantities.
The stock of the tablet is noticeably emptied
The table's stock has also emptied noticeably.
The Rewe grocery stores in Icking, Wolfratshausen and Eurasburg start an annual fundraising campaign in favor of the food bank.
"The last time we received around 5,000 kilograms of goods," says Ritter gratefully.
Normally these supplies last for one year.
"Now we have exactly two bags of cookies left."
Some groceries are rationed
That's why the Tafel employees started to ration some food when they were served.
A family of four is no longer given two kilograms of flour, but only one kilogram.
When distributing, the life situation is looked at in advance and reacted accordingly.
"A mother with several small children simply needs more detergent than one with older children."

Due to the background of the customers, there is also a rethinking on the side of the table.
“We are currently buying in potatoes, which are particularly popular with Ukrainian families.” Ritter points to a few sacks of tasty tubers that she has just fetched from the warehouse.
"We distribute around 150 kilograms per week."
Chairman Ritter puts hopes in politics
How can you help?
Ritter hopes for politics.
“It cannot be that government tasks are shifted to us volunteers.
One must not forget that we are not the primary provider, but the extra income.”

Now she is asking for donations, both financial and in the form of food.
"Gasoline and energy prices have also risen for us," she emphasizes.
“As I said, we are trying to buy.
But the bottom line is that every packet of flour or rice that is handed in here also helps.”
