Public transport workers unionized in a power organization for workers are on strike this morning (Monday) morning from 5: 00-8: 30 p.m.

The union protests the conditions of employment of bus drivers in Israel, and the shortage of about 4,000 bus drivers.

This is the longest public transport strike in the last five years.

The companies that have been shut down are Superbus and Afikim Transport 2022 (formerly Egged Transport).

Among other things, most of the lines surrounding the Jerusalem, the Matron's in Haifa, the lines in Afula, Tiberias, Migdal Haemek and intercity lines to Jerusalem and Beer Sheva will be silenced.

During the strike hours, the drivers demonstrated in Jerusalem and Haifa.

A workers 'union has said that if there is no change in drivers' wages, there will be a strike every Monday in June.

"So far, the unionized drivers for the workers have shown great restraint," said Raid Mashaal, chairman of the Electra-Afikim Transport Workers' Committee. Leave the industry.

Unfortunately this is the way drivers' conditions have changed in the past: in 2015 and 2018 our strikes led to wage increases.

We hope that maybe this time, the companies and the state will present beneficial solutions even without the need for a strike. "
