Italian League leader Matteo Salvini renewed his refusal to send other weapons to Ukraine.
"I hope that the only weapon we want to use is diplomacy," Salvini said in a statement to a local TV channel, expressing his hope that there would be no need for a parliamentary vote to send any new arms shipment to the authorities of the Ukrainian regime.
The Italian parliament is expected to vote on the government's plan to deal with the developments in Ukraine, which Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi will present on June 21-22.
The League and the Five Star Movement, both of which belong to the parliamentary coalition supporting Draghi's government, refuse to send another arms shipment to Ukraine.
