With the participation of 10 women, an art exhibition entitled (Syrian Women Creators) opened today at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Al-Baath University, which included various artworks such as painting, crochet, accessories, beads, design and sculpture, the number of which amounted to more than 500 pieces.

Participating in the exhibition, Susan Nakadli, who works in the production of artistic pieces of copper wire, crystal stone and onyx, indicated that inviting them to participate in an art exhibition at Al-Baath University allows them to present their products to a scientific community that appreciates the value of art and creativity and contributes to supporting them by introducing their production handicrafts.

Participant Maryam Al-Hourani, who works in the art of crochet, pointed out that her participation in the exhibition constitutes a great opportunity for her to display her products, especially as it is her first participation in Al-Baath University, pointing to the need to hold exhibitions for women on a permanent basis to keep in touch with the community in its various segments.

Participant Reem Al Shaar, who works in the field of accessories, gemstones, diamonds and murals, expressed her happiness to participate in the exhibition, which gave her the opportunity to display her products, explaining that holding the exhibition in the university atmosphere has a special value that contributes to introducing their products more.

University President, Dr. Abdul Basit Al-Khatib, explained in a statement to SANA reporter that the university is a scientific and social incubator and an essential part of the community, as it attracts creative women in order to link the university to society and spread the artistic culture that enriches the students’ imaginations and invites them to artistic creativity in its various forms in addition to their studies.

The Secretary of the University Branch of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, Dr. Faeq Shadoud, indicated that the aim of holding these events is to shed light on the creativity of Syrian women who excelled in various fields, and they are today in the arena of creativity, art and beauty, presenting their artistic touches in handicrafts.

The Dean of the College of Arts and Humanities at the university, Dr. Nizar Abshi, noted the importance of the artworks participating in the exhibition in spreading artistic culture and introducing students to beautiful handmade production, especially that the college includes more than 30,000 students.
