Hallertau tourism has suffered greatly from the corona pandemic.

But now there is optimism and a spirit of optimism again, as those responsible report.

Freising/Hallertau

– The Hopfenland Hallertau Tourismus association has now held its annual general meeting in the Bräustüberl Weihenstephan in Freising.

Tenant Thierry Willems, who has been a member of the board since last year, made the premises available.

A look at the figures from 2021 showed that tourism in the Hallertau was also severely affected by the corona pandemic this year.

Accordingly, guest arrivals were down by more than 43 percent and overnight stays by 28 percent compared to 2019. In the summer months of July, August and September 2021, a better utilization of overnight stays and higher guest arrivals were achieved than in 2020. In the second year of Corona, people were more willing to travel again than in the first year of the pandemic.

However, the number of guests from the years before Corona was far from being reached.

In the overall Bavarian comparison, the Hallertau performed slightly better on average.

All in all, tourists stayed in the hop country for an average of 3.7 days – as in the previous year.

Increased reliance on online advertising

2021 was also the year of extensive marketing measures and campaigns to promote tourism in the Hallertau.

The association increasingly relied on online advertising to open up new target groups.

Domestic tourism is booming and nature and outdoor experiences are travel motives that have gained in importance, according to the finding.

Susanne Beyer, project manager of the tourism association, sees this development for the tourism region of Hallertau as very positive: "That's exactly what holidays in the Hallertau offer, an immersion in our culture and in the nature of a touristically undiscovered region."

Many people discovered cycling and hiking during the Corona period.

To accommodate this trend, the association published the new brochure “Cycling.

Hike.

Hallertau.

On the way on the most beautiful tours”, which is intended to offer day tourists and overnight guests an attractive offer.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Pfaffenhofen's district administrator Albert Gürtner, chairman of Hopfenland Hallertau Tourismus, saw the association as well positioned for its future tasks after last year's restructuring.

In the course of the meeting, the members then also adopted a package of measures for the year 2022. Great development potential is seen for the region in bus travel tourism.

With a wide range of everything to do with hops and beer, as well as appealing excursion destinations in the middle of the green hop landscape, the Hallertau is the ideal destination for day trips as well as for multi-day trips for bus tour companies, groups and club excursionists, according to those responsible.

Hallertau a popular tourist destination

Against the background of a much more positive start to the Bavarian tourism year 2022, District Administrator Albert Gürtner was optimistic: "People's desire to travel is unabated and the Hallertau inspires visitors with a varied range of accommodation, gastronomy and leisure activities." Events benefit “that are now possible again”.
