The US Department of Justice on Monday charged Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio and four other leaders with seditious conspiracy for the assault on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, escalating the criminal case against the extreme right group.
These are the most aggressive charges brought by the Justice Department against the Proud Boys, and are the first accusations by prosecutors that the group tried to oppose the transfer of presidential power by force.
