Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that the long-term mistakes made by Western countries in their economic policies and unilateral sanctions against other countries led to global inflation, increased poverty and food shortages worldwide.
The TASS news agency quoted Putin as saying today in a message to the participants of the 25th Petersburg International Economic Forum that the Petersburg International Economic Forum is being held at a difficult time for the entire international community, when many years of mistakes made by Western countries in economic policy and illegal sanctions led to a wave of Global inflation, the destruction of the usual logistics and production chains, and a sharp increase in poverty and food shortages.
But as always happens, along with challenges, horizons open up, which is why the forum's motto is "New world, new opportunities," noting that the coming years for Russia will be a period of consolidating economic sovereignty while preserving international economic cooperation.
Putin noted that the Petersburg International Economic Forum will continue to make a significant contribution to solving priority tasks and stressed that it is in the common interest to stimulate trade and investment, encourage joint development of technologies, strengthen financial markets and increase the share of trade settlements in national currencies.
From June 15-18, Saint Petersburg will host the Petersburg International Economic Forum, which is an effective platform for exchanging views and experiences between policy makers, officials and representatives of the business sector from different countries of the world.
