The coalition knew that there was a high chance that Kahana's appointment would fall but insisted on holding the vote to allow the right to advance the move against Silman.
However, no final decision has been made by the party.
About a month ago, Kahana announced to Bennett that he had decided to resign from his position as Minister of Religions in order to return to being an MK and help strengthen the coalition.
The decision to return Kahana was coordinated with the Prime Minister's Office and its purpose was to help stabilize the coalition after the retirement of MK Idit Silman from the right.
