Secret documents of the Ukrainian (Azov) battalion of Nazi nationalists found in Mariupol revealed that seventy percent of the population who lived in the regions of the Donetsk Republic controlled by Kiev were pro-Russian.
According to the Russia Today website, it was stated in the fourth paragraph of the fifth page of the plan to prepare for the hostilities carried out by the battalion in Mariupol and its suburbs that “the local population is loyal to Russia in 70 percent of the cases.”
These documents were located at the base of the Azov battalion, located near the 61st School of Mariupol, and they constitute the plan of the covert operations of the 1-16th battalion, called the "Storm".
