The Iranian delegation of health and medical education visits Al-Assad University Hospital and the faculties of science and medicine at Damascus University

The Iranian Minister of Health, Treatment and Medical Education Bahram Ayn Allah and the accompanying delegation visited today the Al-Assad University Hospital in Damascus and were briefed on the hospital’s departments and laboratories, the treatment services it provides to citizens, the educational services it provides to graduate students, and the techniques and equipment used in medical and surgical operations.

The Iranian minister also visited, during his tour, during which he was accompanied by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, and the President of Damascus University, Dr. Muhammad Osama Al-Jabban, the Laboratory of Nonlinear Optics at the Faculty of Science and the Technology Incubator for Medical and Biological Research at the Faculty of Human Medicine at Damascus University to see the equipment and techniques used in the work.

The tour was preceded by a session of talks at Damascus University that brought together the Iranian delegation and the president of the university, which focused on ways to enhance prospects for cooperation in the field of medical sciences, medical education and scientific research between the two sides.

The two sides discussed the possibility of concluding twinning agreements between Damascus University and Iranian universities, conducting joint scientific research and benefiting from the scientific research taking place on both sides, as well as exchanging joint visits for students to participate in scientific and cultural activities. Iranian Minister Bahram Ayn Allah expressed the Iranian side's readiness to expand cooperation with Damascus University in various scientific and medical fields and to provide all facilities for the success of this cooperation.

In turn, Al-Jabban stressed the importance of exchanging experiences and developing cooperation in the field of publishing qualitative joint scientific research and exchanging students at the postgraduate level. He also stressed the importance of benefiting from Iranian experiences in various scientific and medical fields.

The Iranian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Iranian Minister of Health, Treatment and Medical Education signed this morning the executive program of the joint memorandum of understanding signed in Tehran during the month of November 2021 with the aim of strengthening cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research and concluding direct twinning agreements in accordance with the regulations in force in both countries.
