In appreciation of the efforts of the medical staff working in the fight against cancer and in honor of them, the Syrian-Russian Cooperation Foundation held today the first medical symposium in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, the Russian Cultural Center, Al-Amal Clinics for Oncology and the Syrian Doctors Syndicate, at the Cultural Center in Kafr Sousa, Damascus.
Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Muhammad Seif El-Din explained to SANA the importance of the role of the medical staff working in the field of treating cancer patients and providing all their capabilities to help them, pointing out that the ministry provides all facilities and capabilities to all active associations in this field, indicating that Syrian-Russian cooperation is important in all sectors, especially health, including Reflects interest and contributes to the knowledge of the latest developments and treatments in the fight against cancer.

The head of the Syrian Doctors Syndicate, Dr. Ghassan Fandy, explained that the Syndicate participates in these activities due to its great role in increasing the knowledge and social ties of doctors at the scientific and social levels.
Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Syrian-Russian Cooperation Foundation Fadi Isani explained that the foundation’s main objective is to activate cooperation with all government agencies to spread medical awareness and provide the health sector with active cadres in this field, pointing out that the number of honored doctors reaches 30 working in the fight against cancer.
In turn, Nikolai Sokhov, director of the Russian Cultural Center in Damascus, stressed the need to establish these activities to introduce everything new regarding cancer and its types, pointing out that Russia is working to provide assistance in finding scientific and applied treatment methods for patients in Syria.
President of the Syrian Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Dr. Marwan Al-Halabi, gave a lecture on “Fertility Care for Oncology Patients,” in which he demonstrated how to deal with oncology patients who have been subjected to radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and to preserve their reproductive potential through freezing sperm or eggs, freezing maxillary tissues, freezing embryos, and protecting cells. Sexual damage as a result of treatment.
Director of Al-Amal Specialized Clinic for Oncology, Dr. Hassan Al-Hassan, explained in his lecture on “The Development in Radiation Therapy for Oncology” that radiotherapy is essential in applying modern qualitative treatments and reaching the best results in combating this disease by defining the correct treatment plan for the patient, noting that the cure rate of the disease Very high, especially in the case of early detection.
The specialist in hematology and oncology, Dr. Nisreen Khazem, gave a lecture on “What’s New in Breast Tumors,” introducing cancer, its risk factors, and how to prevent it, in addition to the developments in it, its stages, new treatment methods, and the importance of early detection, which contributes to raising the cure rate.
