The new independent international commission of inquiry of the United Nations on the occupied Palestinian territories stressed the need to end the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories and to stop practices of racial discrimination against the Palestinians.

In a report published today and reported by the United Nations News Center, the committee enumerated some of the violations of international law and United Nations resolutions practiced by the Israeli occupation entity against the Palestinians, including the forced displacement of Palestinians from their lands and homes, threats of it, house demolitions, settlement construction and expansion, and violence perpetrated by Israeli settlers against Palestinians Protecting the occupation forces, in addition to imposing a strict siege on the Gaza Strip, denouncing the international community's failure to hold the occupation forces and its settlers accountable for their continued violations of international laws.

The Commission of Inquiry issued its report after conducting an evaluation of the recommendations made by commissions of inquiry, previous fact-finding missions and other UN mechanisms, as well as private hearings.

The committee's report focused on the Israeli occupation entity's lack of respect for international laws and norms, its violations and abuses of individual and collective rights, and the lack of accountability.

In turn, the head of the investigation committee, Navanethem Pillay, criticized the failure to implement most of the recommendations of the previous committees, including their calls to ensure accountability regarding the violations of the international humanitarian law and international human rights law by the Israeli entity, considering that “the failure to implement the recommendations, in addition to the environment of impunity, are conclusive evidence that “Israel” does not It intends to end the occupation of the Palestinian territories, nor the discriminatory practices that it constantly pursues against the Palestinians, which is at the core of the systematic procedures of its practices and violations in the occupied Palestinian territories.”

It is noteworthy that the report of the commission will be presented to the Human Rights Council at its fiftieth session on the thirteenth of this month.
