The farmers of the city of Al-Qusayr and its affiliated towns in the countryside of Homs demanded to facilitate the transportation and marketing of the wheat crop to the silos and to increase the number of firefighting mechanisms to reduce fires that may affect agricultural lands before the harvest season, in addition to opening agricultural roads and maintaining the Orontes and Al-Mouh bridges to reduce the distance for farmers during the transportation and marketing of wheat.
During their extended meeting with the Governor of Homs, Engineer Bassam Parsik, and those concerned with agricultural affairs in the Qusayr Cultural Center, the farmers indicated the possibility of increasing the quantities of diesel for harvesters, stressing that the season bodes well and abundant wheat.
During the meeting and the tour of the agricultural lands, Parsik stressed that daily follow-up is carried out on the reality of the wheat crop and its marketing in all regions of the governorate, as it is one of the important strategic crops. Coordination is also done with all the authorities concerned with agricultural affairs to facilitate and speed up the delivery of wheat quantities to silos without any additional burdens on farmers.
Parsik pointed to the advantages offered by the government by raising the purchase price of wheat in order to support this important crop, especially in light of the current economic conditions, pointing out that in the coming days, the distribution of the second batch of agricultural diesel will begin, which contributes to advancing the important agricultural development sector.
In turn, the Director of Homs Agriculture, Engineer Younis Hamdan, said that work is currently underway to provide all facilities to the peasant brothers during the wheat harvest and marketing season, in addition to securing all the requirements for transporting it to the silos.
The head of the farmers' office in the Homs branch of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party, the provincial police chief, and those concerned with agricultural and transport affairs participated in the tour and meeting.
