77 new ones were added over the weekend.

LONDON - The number of monkeypox infections continues to rise.

A further 77 cases of monkeypox have now been confirmed in the UK.

This increases the number of infections confirmed in the United Kingdom to 302 (as of June 5), the British health authority announced on Monday.

People who notice a rash and may have had contact with infected people in the past three weeks or who have been to West Africa should go to a sex clinic, it said.

Soon over 1000 cases?

Monkeypox infections continue to rise

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the number of confirmed cases of monkeypox in countries where it has not previously occurred has already risen to 780.

The infections were reported from May 13 to June 2 from 27 mostly western countries, as the UN organization announced on Sunday in Geneva.

This did not include the new British and many other cases, for example in Germany.

So the number should now be close to 1000.

According to the WHO, men who have sex with men are mainly, but not exclusively, affected.

Monkeypox: Three new cases in Baden-Württemberg

Three new cases of monkeypox have also been detected in Baden-Württemberg.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Health said on Monday in Stuttgart.

The people affected came from the Alb-Donau district, the Ravensburg district and Freiburg.

They were in domestic isolation and not abroad.

The severity of the symptoms is not such that those affected have to go to the hospital, the spokesman said.
