Energy saving program very popular: These are the new subsidy rules

The demand for the Garchinger energy saving promotion program has risen sharply.

The City Council has now adjusted the grant rules.

He wants to decide at the end of the year whether the budget will be increased.

– The demand for the Garching energy saving program has increased exorbitantly.

This requires an update of the funding programs.

While there were still a total of 54 applications in 2021, by the beginning of June there had already been 70 applications for funding that had been submitted and approved by the city administration.

However, the trend towards installing PV systems with storage technology was already apparent in 2021, explained environmental officer Christoph Marquart.

"The budget of 200,000 euros is now slowly coming to an end." With the help of energy consultants, the environmental agency submitted a proposal to the city council with deletions and reductions that were not accepted by all councils.

For Albert Biersack (CSU), it sends the wrong signal, "especially when things are getting going".

Walter Kratzl (Greens) also does not want to delete anything, but pleaded for an increase in the funding pots, "since the citizens are currently overburdened anyway".

However, Josef Euringer (BfG) was able to clarify.

The conversion of a gas or oil heating system to regenerative energy would be subsidized by the federal government with up to 45 percent.

“Our grant would be deducted in favor of federal funding.

That doesn't make any sense," says Euringer.

The situation is similar with the insulation or with the renewal of the windows.

"We should therefore support the measures that are not already supported from a pot."

Subsidy for cargo bikes with immediate effect

This applies to biomass heating systems and heat pumps, measures to improve the energy efficiency of buildings and the replacement of pumps.

Combined heat and power plants are funded up to an output of 10 kW (previously 20 kW), electricity storage is limited to photovoltaics and wind power.

The subsidies for combined heat and power plants and solar thermal systems, energy advice to 500 euros, and deep geothermal energy to 1000 euros are reduced.

In the future, there will be a maximum of 300 euros for wall boxes.

New in the funding program are plug-in solar systems, for example for the balcony (maximum 100 euros per system) and cargo bikes (maximum 200 euros).

Environment officer Marquart referred to the "buffer" because about 30 percent of the applicants do not implement their measures, "this has to happen after a year".

This is why this year's applications are only due for payment in the coming year.

At the end of the year, "we can look at what's still outstanding from the past year and compare this with the forecasts from this year." Then Mayor Dietmar Gruchmann (SPD) is also the right time to think about increasing the funding pot .

"Because all these grants are voluntary benefits."
