According to the taxi driver surnamed Leung who was hit, he was carrying passengers across the Hong Kong Tunnel to Wan Chai when he was queuing at the entrance of the tunnel and suddenly "bang bang bang bang bang buried" behind him. The momentum was very strong.
He believed that the lorry involved fell off the bridge on Gascoigne Road and was queuing up to enter the tunnel before it could be stopped and crashed.
He witnessed the police car "both doors are covered with solid sun", and the two policemen in the car were trapped and both were awake.
