After a two-year break, the Fürstenfeld Garden Days have again brought numerous visitors to the monastery grounds.

Above all, they were looking for suggestions, plants and accessories.

Fürstenfeldbruck – Flowers of all sizes, shapes and colors, grasses, herbs and perennials, but also fountains, bird houses and Roman statues were found on the Pentecost weekend on the monastery grounds in Fürstenfeldbruck.

After a two-year Corona break, the Fürstenfeld Garden Days took place again.

Numerous people had found their way to the area.

"I didn't think there would be so many people.

You can tell that everyone wants to get out again," says Toni Schanderl from Emmering.

He is there with his wife Edith for the first time.

"We built a new one in the summer and everything is ready, but we're still looking for some flowers," he says.

The offer is huge.

"You don't even know what to take." But they have already had a rose bush put back.

regulars

Carola Götz and Franz Stelzer from Hohenpeissenberg have also found what they are looking for.

Herbs, a carnation and two green Horta have already found their way into the carrier bag.

"There are suppliers with very special rarities that you won't find anywhere else," says Götz.

The two have been regulars for years, seeking inspiration for their two large gardens.

"We always check beforehand where we still have space and which plants we have broken," explains Götz.

The pandemic, which triggered a garden boom, has changed nothing for the two Hohenpeissenbergers.

“We have been growing vegetables for a long time and have a lot of flowers.

You always have to work there, regardless of whether it’s Corona or not.”

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular FFB newsletter.)

It is similar with Cornelia and Gisela from Munich.

"I even did less in the garden during Corona because I was so frustrated," says Gisela.

But that is a thing of the past.

At the garden days she was looking for a clematis, an ornamental plant with purple flowers.

"I have a place that would suit her well." She also found a nice specimen.

There are also lavender and grasses in their bags.

"There really is something for everyone," she says.

Brigitte Neugebauer from the Schänzle nursery sells many medicinal herbs at her stand in addition to flowers.

“People are asking more questions this year about how plants affect the immune system or health.

Taste used to be the focus,” she observed.

Overall, this year is not busier than in previous years.

And the men?

Adriana Lupse and Anna Thies from Puchheim are also regular guests at the Garden Days.

"We're looking for special plants that we don't get otherwise, but it's difficult to decide," says Lupse.

The two friends like to stroll around the site to get new ideas.

"It's our day.

We left the men at home,” explains Lupse.

A few meters further on, Christian Bestle is waiting for customers.

His colleague sounds one of his large gongs, which people can place in their garden as a sound installation.

"I really like being here in Fürstenfeldbruck because I grew up in Dachau.

It's always a bit like coming home," says Bestle, who now lives in Chiemgau.

"In addition, the wide range of exhibitors attracts a large audience," he says.
