Harry of England and Meghan Markle parted ways with the British royal family two years ago in order to try to get as far away from public scrutiny as possible and live a quieter life.

With that in mind, the couple moved to the town of Montecito (Santa Barbara, California, USA).

So they traveled alone in the company of Archie, their first child, and it was in California where the couple increased the family with the birth of Lilibet

The little girl was born on June 4, 2021 at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

Precisely to celebrate her first year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have shared an

official portrait for the first time

of the little girl, whose name is a tribute to her grandmother, Diana of Wales, and her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II (whom the family affectionately calls Lilibet).

In the image, the little girl appears smiling during the picnic that her parents organized to celebrate her birthday at Frogmore Cottage, her home in the United Kingdom, just a few minutes from Windsor Castle.

A first portrait in which you can see Lilibet's red hair, like her brother and her father.

The marriage is very jealous of the privacy of their children, and until now they had not shared a posed image of the little girl.

In fact, Lilibet's first photo wasn't seen until six months after her birth, when she appeared alongside her parents and her brother Archie in a Christmas card.

"Harry and Meghan remain incredibly touched by the countless birthday wishes for their daughter, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor," a spokesperson for the couple said.

Henry of England and Meghan Markle wanted to take advantage of their recent and fleeting trip to the United Kingdom to celebrate Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee to also celebrate the first anniversary of their youngest daughter as a family.

Of course, the photograph has been released once they are back in the United States, since they returned on Sunday before the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the British monarch on the throne officially ended.

Their time in London has been fast, and during the Jubilee they have kept a discreet background.

Neither of his two sons have been seen participating in the festivities either.

The portrait was taken by Misan Harriman, a friend of the couple, during the birthday party they organized on Saturday, June 4, and in which family and friends were present, as reported by a spokesman for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex;

without giving more details about which relatives were the guests.

“It was a privilege to celebrate Lilibet's first birthday with my family and hers!

Joy and face painting everywhere,” the photographer wrote on his Instagram account.

Along with the portrait, one more photograph in which the little girl is seen in the arms of her mother and other friends of hers.

According to the British BBC, the birthday cake was commissioned from Claire Ptak, who runs the Violet Bakery pastry shop in London, the same one that got down to work for the couple's wedding cake in 2018. In addition, on the occasion of the Lilibet's first anniversary would have made more than 100,000 dollars in donations, which Henry of England and Meghan Markel have allocated to World Central Kitchen, the NGO of the Spanish chef José Andrés that distributes food to those who have been affected by climatic disasters or wars like the one in Ukraine.

Little Lilibet is the 11th great-granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II, and eighth in line to the British throne.
