Valerie was due to graduate from high school this year.
She and her friends planned the graduation ceremony earlier this year, bought dresses and waited for the big day.
However, on February 27, three days after Russia invaded Ukraine, Valery's School, "No. 34," in Kharkov was destroyed by a missile attack.
About 30 Russian soldiers entered the school, and were later killed by Ukrainian soldiers.
According to Ukrainian tradition, high school graduates dance the waltz in front of all students as the ringing in the background rings for the last time.
On June 5, Valerie and her friends were forced to dance a waltz in front of the remains left of the building.
Only a third of the students attended the impromptu ceremony because the rest had fled Kharkov and had not yet returned.
Ukrainian fighters who defended the school from the Russians managed to arrive to greet the students.
