The brief executive order came down Monday evening, read quickly on national television.
The ruling junta in Bamako is giving itself two more years, starting last March, to complete the transition.
The future elections will therefore be officially held in March 2024.

The military, at the head of Mali since the August 2020 coup, had already said their intention to set a deadline of 24 months.
