On the evening of Whit Monday, a serious accident claimed two lives in Bavaria.
Two cars collided head-on.
Dinkelsbühl - It must have been a terrible sight for the emergency services: two cars completely demolished on the side of the road.
The accident happened on the evening of Whit Monday on state road 2219. A 39-year-old was traveling from Unterschwaningen (Ansbach district) towards Cronheim (Weissenburg-Gunzenhausen district).
In a curve, he came off the road and ran into oncoming traffic, according to the police.
Frontal crash in Bavaria: First responders free both drivers from cars
There he crashed head-on with the oncoming car of a 23-year-old.
Both were trapped in their cars as a result of the accident.
First responders freed the two drivers, but according to the police, the injuries were so severe that they both died at the scene of the accident.
It is still unclear why exactly the man got into oncoming traffic.
The officials from the Dinkelsbühl police inspection recorded the accident on site, but the state road was completely closed until 12:30 a.m.
An expert was called in to determine the cause of the accident.
Volunteer fire brigades in Cronheim, Stetten, Unterschwaningen, Oberschwaningen, Wassertrüdingen and Ehingen, numerous rescue workers and an emergency pastor were deployed.
