Opinion | The price of survival: a dysfunctional government Israel today

In some respects Israel is coming to an end as far as functioning leadership is concerned.

Here, before our eyes, left-wingers explicitly say that they prefer a government that is incapable of passing even one law and even one decision, provided that it actually prevents its existence from doing the worst and worst thing.

And what is the worst thing?

Right-wing government.

"Netanyahu was not awarded a prize," says Gideon Saar.

A dysfunctional government is a government that does not have the ability to fight inflation or outline security policies.

It is customary for the man in charge of the "suitcase" to be a political leader who has won a great deal of people's trust, not an absolute majority, since even Ben-Gurion has won the support of 45 seats plus or minus.

The man in charge of national security today arrived at the prime minister's position by means of political blackmail, and it is recommended to read a passage written by Amit Segal towards the end of his book "The Story of Israeli Politics": "The Israeli system "Which takes power through political maneuvering - threatens to completely sever the connection between the will of the people and the identity of the prime minister."

In the end, the lack of a majority in the Knesset and the lack of the ability to legislate and govern are still not enough to replace or overthrow the government.

Whenever an existential danger to the regime was discovered, some sort of patch was invented that just one hole but created other, unforeseen loopholes.

Everyone knows the direct choice for prime minister.

In response, the people of Israel split into parliamentary amoebas.

In response to the ease with which governments have been overthrown by no-confidence vote, the legislature must have constructive no-confidence - that is, the ability to form an alternative government.

So the fall has not yet come.

The option of dissolving the Knesset and going to the polls remains.

What exists at the moment is an unbearable gap between public opinion and the government that has lost the majority.

The feeling of the opposition when they try to mobilize it to pass the Judea and Samaria Regulations Law, is that it is pocketed while the anthem is being sung. And always - every failure is marketed as a success.

The price of survival, while failing to vote in the Knesset, is rising.

Phenomena that become routine in the Knesset plenum following another "fateful" vote must not be underestimated.

After every such vote, almost every day, a brawl breaks out that is getting closer and closer to the threshold of physical violence.

Usually between Jewish and Arab MKs.

Dismantling and splitting leadership invites pressures of all kinds.

The coalition showed a hostile attitude towards the opposition and completely failed to expand the ranks.

Do the coalition leaders also work in the service of Bibi's self-interest?

Were we wrong?

Fixed!
