Despite restrictions due to the pandemic, the fire brigades did not lose their clout.

They are operationally up to date. That was evident at the service meeting.

Although it was about two reporting years, the meeting of the district fire brigade association in the Landgasthof Neukirchen was completed within an hour.

District Fire Councilor Anton Riblinger mainly reported failures: courses, youth training, performance tests and - particularly problematic - being together after difficult operations.

Reduced offers from the fire service schools

After all, despite constantly changing hygiene requirements and many difficulties: "The operational readiness of the fire brigades in the district of Miesbach was ensured at all times." Riblinger was also pleased that no fire brigade had to be canceled and that some important meetings could take place online.

However, due to the reduced offers of the fire service schools, various legal requirements, especially for newly elected commanders, could not be met on time.

New vehicle to support the operations center on site

"There were 45 courses for a total of 36 fire departments," complained the district fire council.

But he was pleased that the new vehicle for the local support group (UG-ÖEL) has been there since last year, albeit without a ceremonial handover.

She thus has a well-equipped mobile office with several workstations to coordinate larger operations directly on site.

After the stressful times of the pandemic, Riblinger was optimistic about catching up on anniversaries, celebrating other festivals and cultivating good camaraderie with each other again.

Forest firefighting exercise planned

District fire inspector Florian Dirscherl reported on a course at the state fire brigade school in Telfs in Tyrol on fighting mountain and forest fires, which he and his colleague Hans Schüller had attended.

A corresponding exercise is planned for the autumn together with the Schliersee fire brigade and the district fire inspection in Rosenheim.

In the event of an emergency, Dirscherl further informed, the Lenggries fire brigade has forest fire equipment available that the fire brigades from the Miesbach district can also access.

Dirscherl asked the assembled commanders to coordinate with him before purchasing the appropriate equipment for fighting forest fires.

In this way, it is possible to equip the weirs in the best possible way across locations.

Despite the obstacles, 42 performance tests could be held at 24 fire departments in 2021 after a slack year in 2020, district fire inspector Schüller informed about refereeing, "and the quality was really good", even if mistakes always caused problems.

The fire brigades, where no performance badges were made, asked Schüller to become more active in the future.

The requirements are expected to change in the next few years.

"That's why it's better to still take the exams according to the old conditions," he recommended.

First woman in the referee team

With Mischa Hebensberger and Martin Schlickenrieder, two referee veterans were eliminated because of the age limit.

They were retired by Riblinger with a decoration of honour.

Franzi Wechselberger from Agatharied is the first woman to join the team of referees.

The district of Miesbach counted 35 volunteer fire brigades in 2021. In addition, there is the plant fire brigade of the Louisenthal paper factory.

At 47 locations, 101 female firefighters and 1,914 firefighters were on call, 661 with respiratory protection training.

In the 29 youth groups, 55 male and 200 female candidates practiced.

The fleet of all fire services includes 145 vehicles, including boats and special trailers, including four turntable ladders, 21 multi-purpose vehicles, five rescue vehicles, 35 different fire-fighting vehicles and 14 tank fire-fighting vehicles.

In addition, there is a wide range of equipment for gas operations, hay fires, oil accidents, NBC alarms and the rescue of people from buildings or vehicles, as well as radios, portable pumps, pumps and thermal imaging cameras.

Data, facts to figures on the fire brigades

567 fires had to be fought in 2021.

1226 technical assistance services, 38 operations with NBC hazardous substances and 20 security guards were incurred.

The Florian disciples spent 26,940 hours on it.

This does not include many transport trips with hygiene and test materials in connection with the corona pandemic.

Blind alarms and false trips occurred 285 times.

The Hausham firefighters completed the majority of the only 131 exercises due to the restrictions at 78, the Tegernseer at 31.
