The new series of talks "Your Geretsried - Your open ear" with Mayor Müller started on Saturday in Gelting.

But only a few citizens came.

Gelting – where does Geltinger pinch the shoe?

That's what Mayor Michael Müller (CSU) wanted to find out from the citizens on Saturday morning at the kick-off event for the new series "Your Geretsried - Your open ear".

The head of the town hall, press spokesman Thomas Loibl, employees from the areas of construction and business and some CSU city councilors answered questions on the village square.

Only a few took advantage of the call offer from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Does that mean there are no problems in the 2,000-inhabitant village?

Not quite.

through traffic

Josef Winklmeier complained that the through traffic through Gelting was increasing.

Above all, the logistics companies DHL, DPD and GLS, whose fleets swarm out of the industrial park on weekdays, would contribute to this.

Mayor Michael Müller replied to the 71-year-old that he had written to the logisticians with a request not to drive through Gelting, but to take the 11 federal highway.

But he couldn't force anyone to do it.

Müller is aware that Gelting is heavily loaded with around 8,000 vehicles a day - the measurement is already a few years old.

The impression that many are driving faster than the permitted 30 kilometers per hour in urban areas is deceptive: "According to the police, there are hardly any traffic violations and accidents." A solution is only in sight with the construction of the S7 extension,

S-Bahn and B11 relocation

In this context, the mayor regretted that there was no news either in the S7 extension or in the B11 relocation, which should go hand in hand.

If construction is scheduled to start in 2028, it will take at least ten years for both projects to be implemented.

This is unsatisfactory in view of the 44,000 vehicles on the federal highway every day, and the trend is rising.

X buses

"However, most of the traffic is homemade," added Müller.

He hopes that more people will use the county's two new express bus lines in the future.

According to press spokesman Thomas Loibl, the city wants to advertise the buses financed by the district with an advertising banner on the Böhmwiese.

According to Müller, the suggestion of some Geretsrieder and the Greens to better coordinate the city bus with the X970 will also be examined.

The city bus could run every 20 minutes instead of every 30 minutes and the route could be changed so that a change at the stops at Rathaus and Am Stern would be possible.

The stop at Stern could also be closer to the city bus stop on Sudetenstraße, near Café Waldmann.

Also think of bicycle parking spaces at the X-Bus stations.

bike lanes

The expansion of the cycle path network is Dr.

Hermann Braun from Gelting a concern.

He rides his bike every day, said the pensioner.

In summer it is not a problem to get to Waldram and on to Geretsried via the Geltinger Feld.

In winter, however, when there is snow, you have to use the busy road.

The dirt road along the canal is mostly cleared, but the problem is the access to it via the extension of Pfaffenried-Straße.

"It would be nice if it could also be cleared here," said Braun.

Müller promised to check that.

However, the city has no influence on the privately owned dirt roads.

Clearing them there and releasing them officially is also a question of liability.

Tattenkofener Strasse and B11

The fact that Leitenstrasse is very narrow for cyclists is due to the property owners, who did not give up more space.

After all, as Müller was able to report, the traffic lights that pedestrians and cyclists are longing for will probably be installed at the B11/Blumenstraße intersection in the middle of the year.

The tender is running.

At the second dangerous cyclist crossing in the city area, the Tattenkofener Straße at the height of the Breslauer Weg, the road construction authority in Weilheim wants to build a traffic island for more safety on the state road in autumn.

The dangling at the town hall that cyclists have to make on the cycle path remains “unsatisfactory”.

But from Müller's point of view, the small detour is "justifiable".

The overall situation at the B11 entrance to Rathaus with the many signs and road markings will also be redesigned.

With the completion of the building on Egerlandstraße, a pedestrian zone is to be created in the entire T-Zone.

Müller: "I think that there will be a majority in the city council."

gastronomy

Back to Gelting: In conversation with the mayor, Christiane Nelles regretted that there was not a single business in the district.

The Neuwirt is closed and the Alter Wirth is only open on special occasions.

Müller, whose wife Daniela runs the Alter Wirth, replied that the number of guests had fallen sharply in both restaurants.

The business was no longer profitable.

village shop

According to City Councilor Franz Wirtensohn, a member of the village shop cooperative, at least its continued existence is assured.

After the business on the village square was in the red for a while, things are now going well again.

Here, too, Müller applies: “With our purchasing behavior, each of us has it in our hands whether shops remain in place or close.” At the same time, the city will create the framework conditions for social life in Gelting to flourish again after the corona pandemic and be preserved.

Festivals and celebrations will be made possible and the clubs will be supported in their valuable work, according to the head of the town hall.
