Three people were killed today when a passenger train collided with a truck at an unguarded railway crossing in northwest Bulgaria.
The Associated Press quoted local authorities as saying: "The truck, which was transporting stones for construction work on a highway linking the capital Sofia and the Danube port in Vidin, collided with a passenger train near Gara Orichites, killing three people, the two drivers and the truck driver, and investigations are still underway. The circumstances of the accident are underway.”
The last similar major accident in Bulgaria dates back to 2016 in the northeastern village of Heterino, which killed seven people and injured 30 others when a train derailed.
